Terms of Use

The short version: this website is here to help you get to know us. Behaviour support itself is set out in a written service agreement. Here is what that means for you.

About these terms

This website is run by Social Skills Connect (ABN 52 819 393 003), a behaviour support practice in Bayside Melbourne led by Katherine Van Eede, NDIS Registered Behaviour Support Practitioner. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you would rather not, that is fine — please just do not use the site.

These terms cover the website. Our services are covered by a separate NDIS service agreement, which we go through with you before any work starts (see “How our services work” below).

What this website is for

The site is general information about our practice, our approach and the NDIS. It is not clinical advice, and reading it does not make you a client of ours. Every participant is different, and nothing here should be used in place of a proper assessment or a plan written for the person in front of you.

If someone is in immediate danger, call 000. For urgent support you can also call Lifeline on 13 11 14 or the Kids Helpline on 1800 55 1800. We are not an emergency or crisis service.

Blog articles

Our blog shares ideas and reflections from practice. It is written for families and professionals to think with, not as instructions to follow. Please use your judgement, and talk to the participant’s own team before changing how they are supported.

Contact form and enquiries

When you send us an enquiry through the site, we use what you tell us to reply and, if you go ahead, to set up services. How we handle that information is set out in our Privacy Policy. Please do not send detailed health or incident information through the contact form — a quick “here is who I am and what I am after” is plenty, and we can arrange a secure way to share the rest.

Using the site fairly

Please do not:

  • use the site for anything unlawful, or to send us content that is abusive, false or harmful;
  • try to interfere with the site, its security, or the servers behind it;
  • scrape or bulk-download the site’s content; or
  • pretend to be someone else when contacting us.

We may block access to the site if it is being misused.

Whose content it is

Unless we say otherwise, the words, images and design on this site belong to Social Skills Connect. You are welcome to read, print and share links for personal, non-commercial use. Please ask before republishing anything.

DIR® and Floortime™ are trademarks of the Interdisciplinary Council on Development and Learning (ICDL). NDIS is a registered trademark of the National Disability Insurance Agency. We use these names to describe our training and registration; it does not mean those organisations endorse this site.

Links to other sites

We link out to organisations like the NDIS Commission, the OAIC and Facebook. Those sites are run by other people and have their own terms and privacy practices, which we do not control.

How our services work

A few things that are always true when you work with us:

  • Service agreement first. Before we start, we agree in writing on what we will do, how much it costs, how it will be paid for, and how either of us can end or change it.
  • NDIS pricing. Our fees follow the current NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits, and we claim only for supports that are in your plan and that we have delivered.
  • Cancellations. Life happens. If you need to cancel, please give us as much notice as you can. Short-notice cancellations may be charged in line with the NDIS Pricing Arrangements, and the exact terms are set out in your service agreement.
  • Consent and choice. You decide who is on your team and what we share with them. You can change your mind at any time.
  • Restrictive practices. Our aim is always to reduce and, where possible, eliminate restrictive practices. Where one is proposed, it goes through the authorisation and reporting steps required by the NDIS Commission and Victorian law.
  • Records. We keep records in line with the NDIS Practice Standards and privacy law, and you can ask to see yours at any time.
  • Feedback and complaints. Tell us if something is not working. You can also contact the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission on 1800 035 544 or at ndiscommission.gov.au. Making a complaint will never affect the support you get from us.

Where anything here differs from your signed service agreement, the service agreement wins.

Your rights under Australian Consumer Law

Our services come with guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded — for example, that they will be provided with due care and skill. Nothing in these terms takes those rights away.

What we are responsible for

We do our best to keep this site accurate and available, but we cannot promise it will always be up to date or error-free, or that it will always be online. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss that comes from relying on general information on this site rather than on advice tailored to a particular person.

Changes and governing law

We may update these terms from time to time; the current version is always on this page with the date at the top. These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
