Seclusion
Sole confinement of a person in a room or space they cannot leave, or believe they cannot leave.
Restrictive practices & compliance
We develop interim and comprehensive behaviour support plans for participants whose supports include regulated restrictive practices, and work with implementing providers to reduce and eliminate their use.
Regulated restrictive practices
Under the NDIS (Restrictive Practices and Behaviour Support) Rules, these practices may only be used as part of a behaviour support plan.
Sole confinement of a person in a room or space they cannot leave, or believe they cannot leave.
Medication used primarily to influence behaviour, rather than to treat a diagnosed condition.
A device used to prevent, restrict or subdue a person’s movement to influence behaviour.
Physical force used to prevent, restrict or subdue movement of a person’s body to influence behaviour.
Restricting free access to parts of a person’s environment, including items or activities.
Plans & lodgement
Every plan is built on a functional behaviour assessment and written with the people who will use it.
Authorisation in Victoria
In Victoria, regulated restrictive practices are authorised by the implementing provider’s Authorised Program Officer under the Disability Act 2006 (Vic), with oversight by the Victorian Senior Practitioner. The behaviour support practitioner does not authorise practices; our plans are written to support that process.
Plans that fit the roster and routines of the house, with training so every shift uses the same strategies.
Consistent strategies across settings, with shared data so progress is visible to the whole team.
Support for providers with the data they record and report, and plan reviews informed by that data.
